In Paurashpur, women have no say in society, and men have complete authority. The story about the people of the 16th century takes place here.
Milind Soman and Annu Kapoor star in a historical period drama called “Paurashpur.” The series, directed by Sachindra Vats, is a fictional story about the drama surrounding the Royals of India.
The show, which was released on December 25, 2020, only has one season, which has seven episodes. It received mixed reviews from critics regarding its plot upon its release. On its OTT platform, “Paurashpur” is now available for streaming.
The series takes place in a fictitious kingdom called “Paurashpur,” and ruling this Kingdom is King Bhadra Pratap Singh (Annu Kapoor). King Bhadra is the kind of man who sees women as a means to satisfy men’s desires.
Because of this, he treats women differently from the rest of society. Set in the 16th Century, the idea of Sati was very common among women at that period, and so was the case in Paurashpur.
Such ideals had even gripped the wife of King Bhadra, Meerawati (Shilpa Shinde). She is tasked to provide the King with young and beautiful queens to satisfy his sexual needs even though she is used to meeting the King’s ‘carnal’ needs. King Bhadra had no fear or guilt for his mistreatment towards women, but what did make him uncomfortable was the presence of a transgender named Boris (Milind Soman), who was suspected of having a hand in the disappearance of the young queens that were brought for the King.
