The Storyline of the Movie Dangal

Mahavir Singh Phogat is a brave wrestler and has won several local championships. He dreams of participating at the national level and winning a gold medal for the country. Unfortunately, he needs to give up on his dreams to get a job and support his family financially. He still wants to pursue his dreams through his son but his wife gives birth to four daughters. 

He begins losing hope until his neighbors complain about his elder daughters Geeta and Babita, fighting with their sons. At that moment he realizes the potential of his daughters and that he doesn’t need a son to win the gold medal. He starts to train his daughters and make them go through difficult tasks. Of course, the girls aren’t liking the harsh behavior of their father. 

But when they observe the other girls of their age getting married, they realize that they are so lucky to have a father who is supporting their bright future. Soon, they start loving the training and wrestling and win several local championships against boys. 

As they grow up, the eldest Geeta heads to National Sports Academy in Patiala. She makes friends there and is trained by methods that differ from the techniques she learned from her father. As a result, she becomes irresponsible and loses four big tournaments.
