Dream Girl is an Indian 2019 Hindi language comedy-drama film helmed by Raaj Shaandilyaa in his directorial debut and produced by Ekta Kapoor. Unlike the mainstream commercial Bollywood films, the film focuses on a cross-gender actor (played by Ayushmann Khurrana) whose female voice impersonation precipitates attention from others and talks about issues pertaining to mental health, such as depression and loneliness. It also stars Nushrat Bharucha, Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Vijay Raaz, and Abhishek Banerjee.

The Storyline of the Movie “Dream Girl”
Karam always stages female characters in plays as he has a knack for endorsing a female voice. He is looking for a job and has discovered an ad offering 70,000 rupees per month. His interviewer Mauji rejects him and shows him his call centers, where only ladies work as entertainers in the genre of fantasy.
Karam receives one of the calls in the name of Pooja and astonishes everyone by using his voice modulation skills. Mauji hires him, and business soon picks up. Karam has admirers in Toto, A cop named Rajpal, Roma, and his brother-in-law Mahinder. At one point, Karam feels what will his lover Mahi feel when she finds out about his job. Although the biggest tragedy he comes across is his father, Jagjit Singh, falling for him as one of his affectionate admirers.
