The Storyline of the Movie The Kashmir Files
The movie begins with a flashback to 1990 when in Kashmir, the Islamic militants used the slogan ‘convert, run or die’ to banish the Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir valley. A man named Karan who is a Kashmiri Pandit lives with his wife Sharda, his father Pushkar, his elder son Shiva, and a newborn Krishna. Karan is accused of being an Indian spy by Islamic militants and is chased by them in order to kill him.
So, one day the Militant commander Farooq Malik Bitta along with his group knocks on his door while Shiva and Pushkar are not at home. Karan tells his wife to protect Krishna and he hides in a rice container to not get found by them. However, Karan’s neighbor informs Farooq about it and he shoots at the rice container.
At the same time, Pushkar reaches home with his grandson Shiva and begs Farooq for his family’s lives. Farooq asks Sharda to eat the rice soaked with Karan’s blood in exchange for their lives and she does the same.
After Farooq leaves, Pushkar calls his doctor friend to save his son’s life but the doctor says that he is unable to do so as the hospital is taken over by the militants and has forbidden the treatment of non-Muslims.
Meanwhile, a journalist Vishnu Ram, one of Pushkar’s friends, takes them with him to Kaul to ensure the safety of Pushkar’s family.
Will the family be able to survive or will they get killed by the Islamic Militants?
