Directed by Mani Ratnam, the movie Ponniyin Selvan: II depicts the time of Chola’s Kingdom. In this movie, Vikram and Jayam Ravi who are talented actors in South Indian movies have been seen in the roles of prince of Chola’s kingdom. Additionally, the stunning actress of Bollywood and Dhoom 2 famed Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played the dual roles of Nandini and Mandakini Devi.

The Storyline of the Movie Ponniyin Selvan: II
The movie begins with a flashback in which Selvan Arulmozhi Varman gets drowned in a river and dies. In the present time, his elder brother Aditya Karikalan sets out toward the capital with his army to take revenge for this. He knows that all this has been done by Nandini and he reaches out to her in anger. But she somehow manipulates him to have a meeting with her.
Aditya used to be in love with her, so he agrees to this meeting and goes with her. Then, Nandini makes an attack on Aditya through a secret army and he dies there. The charge of his murder is put on the head of Vanthiyathevan who was present in the palace of Nandini. He has gone there to save Aditya, but unfortunately, he fails.
Now, the story takes a turn where Sundara Chola begins losing his powers over his kingdom as both of his sons have died. Madhurantakan claims himself as the successor of Chola’s Kingdom and gets allies with Kottiga who is from the enemy Kingdom of Cholas. He supports Madhurantakan’s plan to take over the Chola’s kingdom as revenge for being defeated by Aditya.
The next scene reveals that Selvan Arulmozhi Varman who has been considered dead is alive. He is suffering from a high fever and is dreaming about an old lady who looks like Nandini.
