The movie revolves around Lala Kedarnath (Akshay Kumar), who is the elder brother to his four sisters, Gayatri (Sadia Khateeb), Durga (Deepika Khanna), Laxmi (Smrithi Srikanth) and Saraswati (Sahejmeen Kaur). Lala comes from a lower middle-class family and runs a chaat shop left to him by his grandfather.
Being the only person earning money in his household, the financial troubles automatically land on his shoulder. When his mother was lying on her deathbed, she had asked him to make a promise to her that Lala would only marry after he had married his sisters into good households. Agreeing to her last wish, Lala starts looking for marriage proposals for his sisters but meets rejection every because the families had a problem with either Laxmi’s dark skin, Durga’s weight, or Saraswati’s masculine behavior.
Trying to gather money for Gayatri’s dowry, he sells one of his kidneys and manages to marry her off. Feeling relieved after marrying one of his sisters, Lala again begins his search for a suitable groom for the rest of his sisters, unaware of the heartbreak that is yet to come his way.
