Made under the banner of Hombale Films, the mesmerizing movie ‘Kantara’ was released on 30 September 2022. Despite the low budget of ₹16 crore, the production team fabulously helmed the making of this movie and received praiseworthy responses from movie critics.
Surprisingly, the Kantara movie grossed over ₹450 crores and emerged as the second highest-grossing Kannada film of all time after K.G.F: Chapter 2.
Well, all credit goes to the team including the producer Vijay Kiragandur, cinematographer Arvind S. Kashyap, and, most importantly, the protagonist of the movie Rishab Shetty who directed and wrote this amazing movie.

The Storyline of the Movie Kantara
The movie begins in 1847 and a King of a large Kingdom lives with his loving wife and child. Although he is granted everything, he feels restless. One day, he decides to do a journey in search of real happiness and finds peace when he comes upon the Holy stone of Panjurli Daiva. He takes that stone in exchange for a large portion of land for the villagers. Panjurli warns him that if his family and successor try to break this vow, then this decision will bring disaster to their lives.
The scene cuts to 1970 and a successor of the King visits that village to attend a Panjurli festival where Shiva’s father is performing Bhoota Kola. According to the villagers, at this time the man is possessed by Panjurli himself and anyone can ask him for anything. The king’s successor asks for his land back to which Panjurli warns him to drop his plan otherwise he will die vomiting blood.
King’s successor claims him fake and the performer replies that he will disappear if he is possessed by Panjurli. Afterward, he runs towards the Jungle and bursts into flames. On the next day, the King’s successor strangely dies vomiting blood on the court’s stairs as per Panjurli’s words.
The scene shifts after 20 years when Shiva is all grown up and is a champion of local Kambala (bull racing). However, Devendra Suttooru, who is the current King’s successor, is also greedy to seize the same land.
Will he also claim the land or his situation will be worse than his ancestors?
