During Hridayam’s release period, there was a contrary rumor of a change in the movie’s release date due to the state lockdown. But the makers assured everyone that the movie would be released at its declared date only. Despite the lockdown, the movie was successfully released on 21 January 2022 all over Kerala and grossed over Rs. 78 crores, becoming a blockbuster of the year.

Synopsis
The movie begins in a railway station where a young man named Arun catches a train to Chennai. While convincing a Ticket Checker to allot him a seat, he comes across many youngsters who are also going to Chennai and are the freshers of the same college as Arun. On their way, they all introduce themselves and a great bond develops among them.
On their first day of college, they all are ragged by their seniors during which Arun falls in love with a girl named Darshana. He tries to start a conversation with her but it leads him to face the anger of one of his seniors who is also in love with Darshana. His seniors beat him badly when he is resting in his room, thinking he is alone in the hostel. However, one of his friends Prateek hears the noise and rescues him from the seniors.
The next day, Prateek tells Darshana about the incident and they both complain to the college’s Vice President about the ragging. As a result, those seniors get suspended, and on the other side, Arun and Darshana come closer and soon get into a relationship. One day, Arun’s friend Antony asks him to accompany him to meet his online girlfriend. She comes along with her friend at the cafe where Arun gets attracted to her friend and he lies that he is single.
But Arun feels guilty for this incident and tells Darshana about it which leads to a rapid break up between them.
