Synopsis

The movie begins with a woman named Fatima Ba alias Shalini Unnikrishnan who is flanked by Afghani officers. She is arrested for belonging to a group of terrorists and is asked about her mission to join them. She tells them that firstly they need to know about the circumstances that took her to this phase and then she starts narrating her story. 

The scene shifts to her past where she happily lives with her grandma and her mother in Kerala with the name Shalini Unnikrishnan. Her studies have been completed, so she asks her mother to pursue nursing. Her mother gets worried to send her far for her further studies but on a lot of requests, she agrees. 

After a few days, Shalini joins her nursing college and meets with her three roommates named Geetanjali, Nimah, and Asifa. As they used to live together, they soon become good friends. Asifa, who is the only Muslim among them, keeps on talking about the Islamic religion and the benefits to follow the path of Allah. 

In reality, Asifa is a member of a terrorist group and her purpose is to make them believe in the Islamic religion and convert them into Muslims. She brainwashes them all and makes them the opposition of their own religion. She also adds two other male members of her group to her plan and introduces them as her brothers. They make Shalini and Geetanjali fall for them which escalates their cruel plan. 

The innocent girls are targeted by the terrorist group. Will they be able to know about this trap?

The Kerala Story was released on 5 May 2023 in theaters and even after so many clashes, this movie dares to stream in theaters for more than 50 days.
